Deontée (Deon) Gordon serves as CEO & President of TechBirmingham, the regional technology council for Greater Birmingham. As part of his primary role, he recently served as Executive Director for TechBirmingham’s affiliated 501(c)(3), TechAlabama, which recently launched their signature coding initiative, Ed Farm, in partnership with Apple.
Prior to joining TechBirmingham in December 2017, he led as Director of Business Growth for REV Birmingham, a place-based economic development agency. There, in February 2017, Gordon helped lead the launch of REVeal Kitchen, a restaurant incubator designed to offer accessible, proof-of-concept opportunities for aspiring restaurateurs. Three years later, he joined the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, and other civic leaders to formally announce the formal launch of the Ed Farm.
His civic and board engagements include Southern Research, Alabama Futures Fund, Innovation Depot, TECNA (the Technology Councils of North America), Birmingham Bound Leadership Council, and the Birmingham Business Alliance among others. Gordon was named by the Birmingham Business Journal as a “Top 40 Under 40 for the decade” in 2019 and was selected as one of “Birmingham’s Power 60: The Magic City’s Most Influential Executives” in 2020. He is a proud member of the 2019 clases of Leadership Birmingham as well as the 2019 cohort of the Young American Leaders Program (YALP) at Harvard.
